Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Clerk assists with monthly trial balances and report generation involving intermediate levels of financial analysis using generally prescribed procedures.  The Accounting Clerk may provide technical direction and work review to lower level accounting staff, but does not provide complete supervision.   

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

 

  • Scan and file accounting documents.
  • Open and distribute Finance department incoming mail.
  • Deposit checks with the bank and retrieve information from the bank.
  • Obtain approvals from appropriate personnel for accounts receivable and payable.
  • Distributing accounting documents to departments or individuals and mail checks.
  • Process checks and obtain signatures.
  • Reconcile customer and vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Create new vendors in accounting software per Form W-9s or other documents.
  • Code general ledger accounts and enter data into accounting system for accounts receivable and payable.
  • Monitor P-card usage including monthly payment reconciliation and posting
  • Process all ACHs, bank debits and wire transfers via manual check module in accounting software.
  • Assist with sending out due diligence letters for unclaimed property.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training

Minimum:

  • Associates’ degree in Accounting/related field or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

Minimum:


  • 3 years of accounting experience.
