Job Description

Data Analyst

Obtain and analyze data to support company goals. Data will be obtained from various sources, primarily system databases. The analysis will entail consolidating the data into tables and graphs to aid in the decisions required to meet business needs.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office based position; subject to inside environmental conditions (temperature fluctuations of air-conditioned office), not substantially subjected to adverse external environmental conditions. Subject to noise from various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: typewriters, copy machines, faxes, printers and computers. May be exposed to chemicals and/or fumes (e.g. copy toner or cleaning fluid).

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A.  MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

1. Ability to multitask and function in a high volume/busy environment. Ability to work calmly under pressure and appropriately plan, prioritize, organize and carry out tasks and responsibilities.

2. Essential: sitting, finger dexterity, hearing and speaking.

3. Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, crouching/squatting, twisting body, lifting usual amount of 20 pounds, pushing/pulling usual amount of 20 pounds, carrying usual amount of 20 pounds.

4. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, computer manuals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

5. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

6. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or employees of the company.

7. Ability and willingness to learn new things, adapt to a changing environment and deal with various

personalities.

8. Ability to communicate effectively

9. Ability to work as a part of a team.

 

B.  EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a computer-related field or equivalent.

 

C.  MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

1. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, algebraic

manipulation, Boolean math, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

2. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


D.  REASONING ABILITY:

1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

2. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

E.  OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work with Microsoft Windows.

2. Ability to work with basic Microsoft desktop tools, such as Word, Excel, and Access.

3. A basic knowledge of statistics, including averages, deviation, correlation, and significance.

4. Preferred:

a) Understand basic data base design and programming concepts, including relational database, SQL, and client/server architecture.

b) Understand basic financial concepts.

c) Experience in the health care industry.
