The Data Analyst will primarily perform the management and analysis of evaluation/program data for the Hawaii Keiki Program, School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and related responsibilities (e.g., collaboration, project implementation, report documentation, dissemination, and compliance). 


  • Organize and perform data collection, data “cleaning”, and data management of Hawaii Keiki Clinical and Program data.
  • Pull data from Hawaii Keiki data resources (Health Office Anywhere, EPIC, UCERA Web reports, etc.)
  • Analyze evaluation/program data using basic and contemporary/advanced statistical methods (e.g., structural equation modeling, including use of Excel, SAS, MPlus), as well as interpret/write-up results.
  • Organize and perform scientific dissemination efforts (e.g., literature search/review) and outcomes/products (e.g., posters/presentations, program evaluation material).
  • Share and interpret information in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Identify trends in data that will assist the Hawaii Keiki nurses to make recommendations to school or complex area.
  • Present data to Hawaii Keiki Program staff in organized manner at quarterly or monthly meetings, or when needed.
  • Collaborate with Hawaii Keiki Program staff to develop data collection tools to allow for effective collection of Hawaii Keiki program data. 

LOCATION: Prima​rily located in the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene.




  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public health, or related field, and post-bachelor’s course work related to research methodology, data management, statistics, and/or scientific dissemination.



  • 1+ years of experience with course work related to evaluation/research methodology and statistics.
  • 1+ years of experience cleaning/managing large health data sets utilizing basic and contemporary/advanced statistics (e.g., structural equation modeling, exploratory & confirmatory factor analyses) and statistical package programs (i.e., SAS, Mplus).
  • 1+ years working in small group setting on data management and statistical analyses.

Skills Knowledge


  • Evidence of and/or ability to demonstrate proficiency in web browsing/search, e-mail use, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SAS, Mplus.
  • Strong/effective planning/organizational and oral/written communication skills
