Job Description

Eligibility Coordinator I  

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Data Management & Operations this position performs a wide range of membership duties to include enrollment, eligibility and capitation reconciliation.  Also provides support to the Manager, Data Management & Operations in accordance with company policies related to all product lines of business.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  

Office based position; subject to inside environmental conditions (temperature fluctuations of air-conditioned office), not substantially subjected to adverse external environmental conditions.  Subject to noise from various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: typewriters, copy machines, faxes, printers and computers.  May be exposed to chemicals and/or fumes (e.g. copy toner or cleaning fluid).

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS: 

1.  Ability to multitask and function in a high volume/busy environment.

2.  Ability to work calmly under pressure and appropriately plan, prioritize, organize and carry out tasks and responsibilities.

3.  Requires alertness and attention to detail; ability to handle phone calls professionally and courteously.

4.  Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple responsibilities, willingness to learn, ability to communicate effectively and work as a part of a team.

5.  Essential:  Standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, hearing, speaking, seeing, carrying usual amounts of 5-30 lbs.

6.  Continuous:  Sitting, finger dexterity, hearing, speaking, seeing.

7.  Frequent: reaching at shoulder level, and frequent gripping of an object.

8.  Occasional: Stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, crouching/squatting, twisting body, lifting usual amount of 5 lbs., pushing/pulling usual amount of 5 - 30 lbs., reaching above shoulder, reaching at shoulder level, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

9.  Good decision making and communicating skills.  Ability to motivate people. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

10.  Ability and willingness to learn new things, adapt to a changing environment and deal with various personalities.

11.  Ability to work as a part of a team.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

1.  Associates Degree from an accredited college; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

1.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rule, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

2.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

3.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

1.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

2.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY:

1.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

2.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagram or schedule form. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.  Requires alertness and attention to detail; ability to handle phone calls professionally and courteously

2.   Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple responsibilities, willingness to learn, ability to communicate effectively and work as a part of a team

3.   Ability to adapt to a changing environment and deal with various personalities.

4.   Ability to use a 10 key, fax machine, typewriter and other office machines and equipment as well as computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
