HUMAN RESOURCES/EMPLOYEE BENEFITS ASSOCIATE I – ID# 17411.  

 

RCUH Corporate Human Resources Department.  Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Human Resources Department, Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY:  $3,250/Mon. 

 

DUTIES:  Responsible for administrative/clerical assignments relating to all RCUH Benefits Programs to include medical and dental insurance (Active & Retiree), flexible spending plan, group life insurance, long-term care, long-term disability insurance (LTDI), retirement plans, paid and unpaid leaves, flexible spending, COBRA compliance, family/medical Leave, workers’ compensation claims and light/modified duty/Job Physical Analysis (JPA)/return to work program administration.  Reviews actions to ensure compliance with RCUH policies or carrier requirements.  Ensures timely and accurate processing, reporting, and submission of related actions (paper and online). Communicates and coordinates with employees, project administrators, and internal department staff as needed. This is a progressive job, which requires the employee to demonstrate his/her abilities in employee benefits and workers’ compensation claims processing, application of pertinent rules, regulations and procedures.  Progression will be based on performance, demonstrated competence and operational needs.  

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college.  EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of experience in benefits administration or demonstrated competence to fulfill assigned job duties.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Basic knowledge of employee benefits plans (e.g., medical, dental, flexible spending, COBRA, retirement, etc.) and Hawai‘i workers’ compensation law, preferred. Good personal computer skills and ability to use MS Word, MS Excel and accurately input data.  Must be detail oriented to ensure accuracy of work.  Able to deal with and resolve employee benefits or workers’ compensation concerns of employees.  Strong people skills required. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:  As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).  

 

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Business Administration.  At least three (3) years of experience in employee benefits and workers’ compensation claims processing.  Knowledge of UH and RCUH policies and procedures.
