We are seeking an Human Resources Director to join our Ohana. This position will be located at our corporate office in Honolulu, HI. 

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for planning and management of NHV's Human Resources function to include ensuring compliance with all federal and state labor laws and federal contracting requirements.

 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides strategic planning, management direction and leadership to Human Resources team and the overall HR function;
  • Provides guidance to supervisors on employee relations issues and directs/approves all disciplinary actions including terminations;
  • Conducts required investigations on EEO and other employee-related complaints;
  • Performs adverse impact studies and required legal analyses (to include WARN compliance) for corporate reductions in force (RIFs);
  • Extends offers of hire for all corporate personnel and maintains corporate personnel files;
  • Manages corporate compensation program to include merit and bonus programs, salary grades/ranges and annual compensation evaluations;
  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive leadership for improvement of the company's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters. Creates human resources policies in compliance with Federal and State Labor Laws;
  • Edits and updates employee handbooks;
  • As Affirmative Action Officer for NHV, ensures annual completion and enforcement of company's Affirmative Action Plan (AAP).
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislations and ensures company's compliance. Ensures Federal Contractor compliance to include E-Verify, OFCCP, AAP, SCA etc.;
  • Communicates changes in company personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed
  • Manages company's FMLA policy;
  • Manages company benefit plans ensuring compliance with all ERISA, HIPAA and COBRA laws including being the Company's ACA Privacy Officer and ensuring that all Hawaii Prepaid Medical Plans are in compliance;
  • Works with CFO and Contracts Manager on annual insurance renewals for all lines of coverage including the completion and knowledge of the Form 5500;
  • Reviews company's 401(k) plans and ensures ERISA compliance;
  • Works with Human Resources Consultant and  labor attorneys on all legal actions relating to employment;
  • Orchestrates EEO and other company training;
  • Manages the Company's Employee Assistance Program to include mandatory referrals;
  • Orchestrates the company's Succession Planning and Certification Programs;
  • Ensures current job descriptions are maintained for all positions including ADA compliance requirements;
  • Ensures exit interviews are conducted to determine reasons behind separation.
  • Oversees Company's Drug-Free Workplace Program to include random testing;
  • Oversee Company's Sexual Harassment and Harassment Policy and ensure compliance
  • Manages Workers' Compensation Treatment Programs and Carriers;
  • Travels to NHV project sites to conduct required HR training, investigations and other HR-related functions as required;
  • Write personnel and compensation-related sections for RFPs and provide data call information to Marketing as needed;
  • Responsible for oversight of NHV's Employee Activity Committee (EAC);
  • Develops and maintains human resources case management system to track actions completed by the HR staff
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certified;
  • A minimum of 10 years HR management experience;
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State labor laws;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Access;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong HRIS system knowledge
  • Ability to organize and prioritize;
  • Strong interactive skills with all levels of personnel;

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting - 60%-80%;
  • Working on the Computer - 60%-80%;
  • Repetitive Motion Activities - i.e., utilizing a calculator, stapler, keyboard, other office equipment, etc. - 10% - 20%;
  • Maximum weight required to lift while performing job - 5 to 25 pounds;
  • Overhead stretching Frequently;
  • Bending Frequently;
  • Must be able to travel in long flights in the air, train or by boat.

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) Certification preferred
  • Experience with federal and state government contracting preferred
