Patient Interaction (relations):

  • Greets and receives patients
  • Identifies and gathers information required for quality initiatives with insurances
  • Obtains Information release authorization form from patients
  • Obtains and enters in an EHR accurate insurance and demographic information from patients
  • Schedules patients for faculty practice location
  • Coordinates physician schedules for patient appointments

Faculty Practice Administration:

  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the front office duties
  • Gathers patient data for entry into EHR and quality metric reports
  • Identifies gaps in patients’ care for quality projects
  • Organizes and implements necessary tasks with quality incentive programs.
  • Assists with fiscal responsibilities including cash box reconciliation, making deposits, and performing A/R and A/P duties.
  • Assists with database support activities for the Department of Medicine.
  • Assists with and/or registers patients in the electronic registration system
  • Obtains and enter patient referrals in an EHR when needed
  • Enters payments from patients

General Clerical:

  • Answers phones
  • Takes messages and assures prompt delivery of messages
  • Handles/processes faculty practice mail
  • Assists with office clerical functions including correspondence, check requests, orders
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of forms and supplies used in the reception area
  • Assures cleanliness and orderliness of reception and waiting room
  • Reads and responds to UCERA email daily
  • Assists staff members with photo copying, filing, typing, and ordering as assigned
  • Runs errands, picks up supplies and deliveries




  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • EPIC training


  • 2 years previous work experience in health care
  • Working knowledge with insurances
