Job Description

Interested in joining the ALTRES team? Our company is seeking a Payroll Specialist for an exciting in-house opportunity.  The Payroll Specialist will work with multiple departments to enroll new employees in the company system, process payroll and related reports, and assist with computing wages.

 

We need someone who has proven skills at managing both numbers and data so top candidates will have previous payroll and/or accounting experience to apply.

Add​itional Responsibilities:

 

  • Compile payroll data including hours worked, sales or piecework, insurance, union dues, and employee identification numbers
  • Prepare computer input forms and enter data into files
  • Compute wages and deductions and post to payroll records
  • Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Record changes that affect net wages including exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments
  • Prorate expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records
  • Prepare periodic reports of earning, taxes, and deductions
  • Maintain records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
  • Prepare and issue paychecks

 

Required Education and Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree, SPHR or PHR certifications, or two to four years of related human resources experience and/or training
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or government regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, employees, and the general public
  • Mathematical skills to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Computer literate and a proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of human resource and payroll systems, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and shift priorities
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Previous payroll and or accounting experience
