ALTRES is hiring! Our team has an exciting in-house opportunity to add an HR Specialist to our growing team in Kona. Multi-tasking and follow-up are key components to this role. We need candidates who take initiative and can work effortlessly with multiple departments and individuals.

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Maintain knowledge of current state and federal employment regulations.
  • Provide clients with consultative guidance on appropriately resolving employee-related issues.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and offer creative business solutions for clients’ HR needs.
  • Plan and conduct new employee and client orientations.
  • Conduct HR-specific training for clients and their employees, as needed.
  • Help clients develop compliant policies and employee handbooks.
  • Review FLSA status for employees and help to develop compliant job descriptions for clients.
  • Work effectively with internal departments to achieve company goals.
  • Travel to client sites as needed, including the neighbor islands.


Required Education and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related business field from four year college preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2-4 years related human resources experience. HR certification (e.g., PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) helpful.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations required.
  • Must be able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Must be able to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve required.
  • Knowledge of human resource systems and computer literacy required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Prior HRIS system experience preferred.
  • Must have current Driver’s License and motor vehicle.
