Lunalilo Home, established by the will of King William Charles Lunalilo, the sixth monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the first to establish an Ali`i Trust for the benefit of his people, is a not-for-profit organization that has been in operation since 1883. Situated in Hawai`i Kai, Lunalilo Home provides compassionate residential, respite, and adult day care as well as meal delivery services to the elderly.
The mission of the Trust is to serve the poor, destitute, and infirmed people of Hawaiian ancestry, with a preference to kpuna. This is accomplished, in part, through financial support of less fortunate Native Hawaiians who, without subsidy from the Trust, would not be able to afford the monthly fees for their care and accommodations.
