It serves as the organization’s food service division, encompassing catering and contract services, the Hickam Hale Aina Dining Facility, the Prince Kuhio Federal Building, and various food‑related initiatives.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Food Service Workers are responsible for safely performing food service duties at Lanakila Kitchen on Oʻahu. Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving, participation in training programs, and general cleaning tasks. Food Service Workers are expected to support and uphold Lanakila Pacific’s mission, vision, values, policies, and STAR service standards, demonstrating teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • TB clearance
  • Criminal background check
  • Pre‑employment drug test
  • Child Protective Services/Adult Protective Services clearance

Preferred

  • High School diploma, Certificate of Completion, or equivalent
  • Minimum two months of vocational food service training

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position‑Specific Duties

  • Work under the direction of the Lead Trainer & Supervisor, Kitchen Supervisor, and other designated staff.
  • Assist with meal preparation, including cleaning, cutting, or peeling produce; cutting meat; and opening canned goods.
  • Participate in training or assist in demonstrating tasks that meet quality and sanitation standards.
  • Clean utensils, pots, pans, and equipment at required intervals in accordance with sanitation standards.
  • Clean kitchen floors, counters, and surrounding areas to meet sanitation requirements.

Other Duties

  • Follow all sanitation and safety procedures, including proper use of gloves, hairnets, and equipment safeguards.
  • Adhere to established work rules, policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including cleaning and maintaining equipment and reporting repair needs.
  • Complete all required organizational training.

WORKING CONDITIONS / HOURS:

  • Scheduled Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; shift times may vary.
  • May be required to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet operational needs and contract requirements.
  • Fast‑paced environment working with a diverse team.
  • Indoor kitchen environment with high heat, steam, noise, and damp or wet floors.
  • Possible exposure to water when using steam/pressure washing equipment.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot kitchen, walk‑in refrigerator/freezer) and occasional outdoor conditions such as heat, rain, and humidity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent: Standing; walking; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting; handling/pushing/pulling with hands, arms, and fingers; lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs and 26–50 lbs; distance vision (20 feet or more); night vision (working in low‑light conditions with lighting); feeling/perceiving attributes such as size, shape, temperature, and texture; and hearing.
  • Occasional: Talking; lifting and carrying items over 50 lbs.
  • Seldom: Sitting; balancing; color vision; climbing (stairs or ladders).
  • Rare: Tasting; travel.
