Summary
The WIC Nutrition Access Specialist supports the delivery of WIC services by helping participants access appointments, eligibility services, nutrition benefits and other WIC resources. This position serves as a primary point of contact for WIC families and works closely with the WIC Supervisor, Maternal & Child Health Specialists (CPAs) and Registered Dietitians (RDs) to provide responsive, culturally appropriate participant support.
Duties include, but are not limited to, answering incoming calls and responding to participant text messages and voicemail; scheduling and rescheduling appointments; reviewing and documenting eligibility information; obtaining height, weight and hemoglobin measurements; assisting with eWIC benefit issuance; providing approved nutrition and breastfeeding education materials; documenting participant information in HIWIC; and referring nutrition-related questions or concerns to the appropriate CPA or RD.
The WIC Nutrition Access Specialist provides services at Waimānalo Health Center and designated satellite clinic locations, including Kahaluʻu, Hauʻula, Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi and other approved WIC service locations. The position also supports virtual and remote WIC service delivery through telephone, text messaging and other approved communication systems.
The ideal candidate is dependable, responsive, organized and enjoys working with families. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume participant service environment.
