Beekeeper (BEEKEE)
We are seeking a dedicated entry-level Beekeeper to support our client's busy field operations. This role is physically active and requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and a genuine respect for the bees. Hours
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm
Location
Captain Cook, Big Island
Pay
$21 an hour
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced beekeepers with feeding, monitoring hive strength (reading +, -, √), and checking hive weights.
- Participate in the full season of honey production, including placing boxes for pollination and removing honey supers.
- Prepare, load, and correctly tie down beehives for daily transport to the field.
- Handle bees and frames with care and respect at all times.
- Respect all landowner rules, ensuring gates are always opened and closed properly.
- Keep trucks, shop areas, and bee yards clean and free of debris. Perform daily truck cleanings and report any damage or maintenance issues immediately.
- Follow all safety SOPs, attend tailgate meetings, and participate in training events.
Qualifications
- Open to learning beekeeping basics and receiving instruction from leads and supervisors (previous experience with bees is a plus).
- Must be free of bee-sting allergies and have the ability to work safely and consistently in close proximity to bees.
- Punctual, dependable, and responsible. Must be available for a flexible schedule as required by field operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a crew setting to meet production goals.
- A foundational understanding of honey, honeycomb, and hive management is preferred.
- Consistent commitment to following all instructions and safety protocols.
