A local building supplier on the Leeward side is immediately looking for an HR Specialist who will closely working with management to assure the highest quality of Human Resources for the organization that is in compliance with local, state, and federal law.

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Pay

$20 to $22 an hour

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions, to include benefits administration, recruitment, payroll and employee relations.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with federal wage laws. Partner with accounting and payroll to maintain the payroll database.
  • Perform benefits administration, including claim resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees, including Open Enrollment.
  • File EEO-1 report annually; and maintain other records, report and log to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Maintain and process all unemployment claims and respond to potential charges in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR staff, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
  • Maintain human resource information system records, and compile reports from the database.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Maintain working relationship with union officials and adhere to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audit Form I-9.
  • Maintain employee-related databases. Prepare and analyze reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company.
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with employment laws and practices and all areas of HR Function including Benefits, Payroll, and Employment.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office including advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent preferred.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superb organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • High level of confidentiality.
