Full time / Minimum 40 hours per week (Evenings and Weekends may be required)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii (In person)

Position Overview:

A Family Support Case Worker plays a critical role in helping ensure child safety and family stability. This position works directly with families referred by Child Welfare Services (CWS) to reduce the risk of child abuse and/or neglect. The focus is on strengthening parenting skills, supporting family connections, and promoting safe reunification when appropriate.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide direct support to families using agency-approved parenting curricula.

- Create and implement lesson plans aligned with each family's Individual Program Plan (IPP).

- Teach, demonstrate , and reinforce effective parenting strategies.

- Supervise visits between parents/caregivers and children in office, home, and community settings to ensure child safety.

- Transport children as needed and facilitate in-person contact with parents, siblings, and extended family members to maintain healthy family bonds.

- Maintain timely, accurate documentation and complete required reports within established deadlines.

- Work collaboratively with management, administrative staff, colleagues, and community partners to ensure program quality and compliance.

- Follow all agency policies and contractual obligations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Soical Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

At least one (1) year of experience working with:

- Parents or cargivers involved inchild maltreatment cases.

- Children who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma, or loss.

 

Preferred Experience:

- Background working with cases involving domestic violence, substance abuse, and permanency planning.

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Attention to detail and ability to meet strict documentation deadlins

- Capacity to work effectively with diverse families and community systems

- Demonstrated professionalism, honesty, and ethical conduct

 

Additional Requirements:

- Willingness to travel regularly throughout Big Island.

- Maintain required levels of insurance in accordance with agency and contractual standards.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
