We're immediately hiring a Housekeeper/Cook Assistant to work at a facility on Maunakea at an altitude of 14,000 feet.

This a temporary summer job only.

Hours

Full-time, four 10-hr days per week from 6:00am-4:00pm. Must be available all days of the week.

Pay

$20 an hour

Responsibilities

• Prepare, transport and serve meals.
• Clean dishes, utensils and kitchen appliances and stock shelves.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs on housecleaning equipment, tools, plumbing fixtures, room heaters, and accessories.
• Clean dormitory rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, common areas, and offices.
• Load, unload and transport supplies and trash between Hilo and the facility using a large van.
• Make room assignments, keeping the computerized reservation system updated.
• Print reports as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 2-4 years of experience as a cook, housekeeper, janitor, or custodian, preferably in a hotel setting.
• Must possess a valid driver?s license with a clean driver's abstract.
• Must be able to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle with manual transmission on unpaved roads and ice or snow-covered pavement.
• Knowledge of Hawaii Department of Health Food Safety Code, including hygiene, sterilization process, and temperature controls.
• Understanding of safe and appropriate use of standard cleaning chemicals.
• Understand written and oral instructions and keep records of completed tasks.
• Ability to use carpet cleaning and floor wash/waxing machines.
• Comfortable working with computers.
• Ability to pass safe food handling test within three (3) months from date of hire.
• Ability to work at 14,000 feet and pass a post offer high altitude medical examination on an ongoing basis.
• Ability to obtain tuberculosis (TB) clearance.
