Human Resources Specialist (525)

As HR Specialist, you will be responsible for various tasks within the HR department that may focus on employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance, training programs, workplace safety, and customer service for employees.

Your duties also include answering general employee questions, performing data entry into payroll and HR systems, and administering health benefit plans. Since this role requires you to communicate with all levels of personnel, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are important.


Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm


Hilo, Big Island


$16 to $19 an hour, depending on experience


  • Assist with company-wide meetings and HR events.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and HR information.
  • Stay up to date with current HR laws and regulations.
  • Expedite issues that require immediate attention to the Director.
  • Cross-train and perform back-up for others in the HR Department.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Complete other work-related duties as assigned.


  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum four years of related human resources experience preferred.
  • Good verbal communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent teamwork, multitasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with KRONOS and ADP a plus.
