Job Description


The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of distribution activities. Must be able to lead a team ofwarehouse workers and drivers. Will oversee distribution operations including receiving, put away, picking, and shipping of goods, and maintaining inventory and associated records. Must make sure the equipment is regularly serviced and help train new employees. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Familiarity with warehouse operations, logistics, legal issues, government regulations, and safety procedures is required, as is knowledge of geography, mathematics, and computer applications.

  • Maintain work performance by planning employees job duties and monitoring.
  • Discipline employees when necessary and appraising job results.
  • Comply with State and Federal Laws by enforcing OSHA, HIOSH and state health regulations following through with all safety and health policies and procedures such as HACCP & Food Safety
  • Safeguard warehouse operations by planning and implementing emergency response procedure.  Enforcing and conducting training on all security policies.
  • Manage staff by delegating job duties and following up on work results minimizing overtime and work schedule.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels by conducting audits on daily cycle investigation discrepancies immediately.
  • Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles.
  • Planning and scheduling physical inventories.
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse by inspecting materials, equipment and building issues.  Placing work orders to replace and repair damaged areas.
  • Cutting back on staff when allowed.
  • Plan and organize warehouse space to maximize productivity, and minimize loss.
  • Collaborate with other managers and staff members in to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Supervisory Responsibility This position serves as a direct supervisor to Drivers and Warehousemen.

Work Environment This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, exempt (salary) position, and schedule hours of work and days will be based to support our operational needs.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 75 lbs on occasion.

Travel No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years in warehouse, transportation or logistics management.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of warehouse and transportation processes.
  • Desire to learn and grow
  • Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service, and front of the line support
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
