Job Description
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Relative to the learning environment and program content
Responsible for instructing, maintaining and monitoring the Pūnana Leo infant and toddler program content necessary for the successful development of culturally responsible keiki, ohana and limahana through the Kumu Honua Mauli Ola philosophy.
- Demonstrate an understanding and be able to lead all moʻokiʻina and papa haʻawina Pūnana Leo and the perspective in which it is grounded.
- Schedule, develop, implement, monitor and assess lesson plans.
- Conducts learner assessments by maintaiing clear and consistent documentation and communication with familes and program staff.
- Conduct regularly scheduled site staff meetings for curriculum development and assessments, student progress, evaluations and other topics.
Relative to sites and facilities
Responsible for the accurate completion of site, facility and staff duties including but not limited to the following:
- Develope and provide consistent programmatic training for new and returning staff.
- Ensure that student attendance is taken.
- USDA food program is administered according to pre-determined guidelines and regulations.
- Safety procedures are conducted.
- Required to open and/or close the site for instruction.
- Must administer First Aid emergency care as necessary to maintain a safe environment and the well- being of the staff and children.
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of Three Years Hawaiian language and a commitment to continue Hawaiian Language learning.
- Requires a Bachelors degree
- Two years of experience working with infants and toddlers.
- Twelve credits of Early Childhood Education
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Kumu Honua Mauli Ola.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to engage in energetic learning activities with child-learners for up to 8 hours per day.
Working Conditions
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
- Must attend and participate in the annual ʻAha Nuʻukia staff development, Hālāwai Nuʻukia, Hui Kīpaepae and other meetings as required.
