The Team Leader is a key leadership role within our non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Hawaii. This position oversees the coordination and implementation of homeless programs, ensuring the effective delivery of services and support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Team Leader will lead a team of dedicated staff members, providing supervision, guidance, and support to achieve program goals and objectives.The Team Leader is a key leadership role within our non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Hawaii. The Team Leader will lead a team of dedicated staff members, providing supervision, guidance, and support to achieve program goals and objectives.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to a team of case managers, Nursing Assistants, and other program staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee implementing and evaluating homeless programs and services, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, goals, and funding requirements.
  • To enhance program effectiveness and resource coordination, develop and maintain effective partnerships with community stakeholders, including government agencies, service providers, and advocacy organizations.
  • Monitor program outcomes and performance metrics, identify improvement areas, and implement strategies to enhance program impact and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, training, and performance evaluations to support professional development and ensure staff compliance with program protocols and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the organization's leadership team to develop program budgets, secure funding, and report on program outcomes to funders and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a point of contact for program participants, staff, and external partners, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and policy developments related to homelessness, medical/behavioral health, and housing instability, and integrate this knowledge into program planning and implementation.

Work Environment:

In the office, shelter facility, and/or community-based settings. Frequent exposure to stressful situations related to persons served includes but is not limited to domestic violence, ex-offenders, substance abuse, and mental health consumers.
In the course of meeting the Team Leader's responsibilities, it is not uncommon to witness, engage in, or be confronted with the following: Violence and threats of violence; profane, racist, or sexist language; interactions with First Responders; alcohol-influenced behavior; street drugs; tobacco smoke; death of service participants or her/his associates; nudity of service participants or her/his associates; disruptive friends/family dynamics with service participants; people involved with sex work; people involved in the drug trade; persons performing actions against their consent, will or knowledge; people in conflict with the law; infection risks; and/or other situations that may be unsettling. Measures are taken to train staff to deal with these situations appropriately. Still, those in the position should reasonably expect these types of things to occur and understand appropriate direction and support will be provided by HOPE Services Hawaii leadership.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will involve supervisory responsibility for a team that includes staff, volunteers, and interns. Volunteer site supervision, when assigned, includes ensuring volunteers are working safely, are monitored and supported to have a positive volunteer experience, and are effectively placed.

Physical Demands:

While most of the work is performed in an office environment, the Team Leader may need to travel to different locations within the community to attend meetings or visit program sites. This may involve standing, walking, and occasional lifting of lightweight materials. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or other Behavioral Health Sciences required.
  • Three years of work experience serving vulnerable and challenged individuals.
  • Experience navigating healthcare, human services, and substance abuse care systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in budget management, grant writing, and program evaluation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • CPI certified or able to certify through the organization.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certified or able to certify through the organization.
  • Current Hawaii Driver’s license, clean traffic abstract with no major violations within the past five years, and access to an insured vehicle for your use to conduct business.

Preferred Requirements:
One-year management experience leading a team of employees.


Scheduling requirements:

This is a full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required to attend meetings, events, or address program needs. TL will also need to be available on-call to support staff 24/7 as needed. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the demands of the position and accommodate program activities and events.

Salary starting range: $54,080.00/yr-$69,808.00/yr
