Summary/Objective 

The Fish Delivery Driver Type 3 is responsible for the safe operation of a commercial vehicle to transport cargo island wide. The primary task is to safely deliver various Suisan fresh seafood products to satisfy customer needs. The Fish Delivery Driver Type 3 will also ensure that all cargo is loaded and unloaded safely and in a timely and professional manner.  Fish Delivery Driver Type 3’s must maintain a professional and customer service oriented attitude as they serve as the first point of contact with all vendor, clients, and members of the community as the face of the company. Fish Delivery Driver Type 3’s must observe all traffic laws and be able to stay focused on the road whether it’s a one-hour trip or delivery across the island.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Safely transport items to customer locations in a timely, safe, and courteous manner.
  2. Maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections.
  3. Follow assigned sequence route instructions from Wholesale Supervisor.
  4. Investigate and resolve all discrepancies immediately. Must communicate the correction action to Wholesale Supervisor.
  5. Issue credit memos to clients for any onsite delivery discrepancies; COD collections if applicable.
  6. Must communicate all products delivered that are damaged, outdated, or shorted to Wholesale Supervisor.
  7. Verify all outgoing items correspond and match up to invoice.
  8. Verify all food deliveries adhere to food safety standards and regulations.
  9. Adhere to all state and federal regulations and abide by all traffic laws.
  10. Prepares various reports and forms to document damage product, returned items, or other discrepancies.
  11. Maintain a high level of customer service and display a friendly and warm atmosphere with all co-workers.
  12. Follows all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures that relate to sanitation, food safety and pest control within the Fish Market.
  1. Performs light maintenance duties as assigned (i.e. replacement of light bulbs, collecting recyclable materials, checking freezer and cooler for leaks or ice build-up, etc.)
  2. Load/unload truck properly following safety policies and procedures to prevent injury or damage product during delivery.
  3. Wrap and box product and store in Walk-in for deliveries or pick ups.
  4. Maintain a safe and secure working environment
  5. Organize workflow to meet deadlines.
  6. Ability to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  7. Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe work environment.
  8. Clean and respond to any spills immediately.
  9. Follows all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and procedures that relate to sanitation, food safety and pest control.
  10. Sweep and clean to maintain required level of cleanliness.
  11. Participate in daily Flex & Stretch.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse/ retail market setting. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position, and schedule hours of work and days will be based to support our Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. warehouse operational hours.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner.  Work under minimal supervision, apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems, use sound judgement and discretion in performing work duties. Requires excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to listen, persuade, and influence skills in dealing with all levels of employees, clients and vendors.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, and twist; requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 75 lbs on occasion.

Hepatitis A Vaccine

Valid Class 3 driver’s license

Clean driver’s Abstract

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma and successful completion of the Food Safety Manager course through the State of Hawaii Department of Health; or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
