Summary/Objective

 

The Technician performs all tasks involved in field production of the company’s products/crops.  The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.  Must adhere/comply with all Quality, Health/Safety/Environmental/Security “HSES” Federal, State and Local regulations/requirements/laws, documents and workflow. Must develop and maintain productive working relationships with all staff. 

 

 

 

Description of Duties:  Support in the execution of field production projects following Quality and HSES requirements, as well as complying with all Federal, State, and Local regulations.

 

 

 

  • Perform processes which include:
    • Pollinating, staking, detasseling, harvesting, seed processing, data collection, field maintenance and other general farm labor tasks as required.
    • Rouging, husking, and sorting.
    • Land prep, irrigation, weeding
  • Preform general labor which may include:
    • Cleaning and preparing the farm site, loading, and delivering materials, and using a variety of tools and machines such as forklifts, levels, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.

 

 

 

Work Environment

Work is regularly performed in a combination of field, office, and shop environments.

 

 

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

 

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

 

 

 

Field work physical demands:  Able to wear PPE; bending and stooping; frequent sitting, standing and walking over rough surfaces; reaching above shoulder level for extended periods.  Ability to work in humid, hot, and dusty conditions for extended periods, extended hours, and weekends.

 

 

 

Preferred Education and Experience

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Demonstrated success in a similar agricultural role.
  3. Working knowledge of computers &/or PDA’s.
  4. Ability to operate a vehicle on public roads.
