Purchasing Intern (2)

 

Job Summary

 

Simplifying our business to the most basic level, we buy products and sell them for a profit. Whether or not we realize a profit is heavily dependent on the effectiveness of our Purchasing team. The Purchasing Intern will work on special projects behind the scenes to help ensure an experience that wows our customers and grows our 100% ESOP company. The ideal Purchasing Intern will be a quick learning college senior.

 

Essential Functions

 

•Assist with special purchasing projects involving procuring product

•Assist purchasing team with managing inventory

•Assist Purchasing with replenishment for manufacturing and general construction materials

•Learn and understand HPM’s pricing strategy for all products

•Assist with data entry and data management with BisTrack system

•Proactively reach out to manager and rest of the team to offer additional assistance when current assignments are completed, while ensuring overtime is not incurred.

•Assisting department with various administrative duties, as needed

•Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

 

Education and Training Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

 

Knowledge and Ability Requirements:

 

•Intermediate computer skills, including ability to effectively use email, internet and Microsoft Office.  Advanced Excel skills strongly preferred.

•Requires attention to detail and ability to accurately and efficiently complete data-entry

•Must be able to represent self, HPM and the department professionally when reaching out to internal and external customers/vendors

•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing

•Ability to follow-up and follow-through in a respectful manner

 

Experience Requirements: Previous administrative/office experience preferred

 

Other Information

 

•Position is in-person (not virtual) at our Hilo, Hawaii location.  

•Prolonged periods of sitting in an office environment

•Prolonged periods of staring at a computer screen

•Work schedule will be set between Monday-Friday

•Business Casual attire is required

•This paid internship, with the possibility of extension

•Upon successful completion of the internship, candidates may be offered a position as an Assistant Buyer.
