KCSC Marketing Director

 

The Kauai Community Science Center fosters student interests through the lens of science. No matter the subject, there is science in it and a potential career pathway as well. KCSC connects science and community through collaborative relationships between Kauai students, teachers, and professionals on Kauai and beyond in order to improve career-connected learning outcomes for students. As a new organization we need support in promoting our organization and also building our organization internally. With this in mind we are seeking a fulltime marketing professional to support KCSC during this critical formative period.

 

 

POSITION TITLE: KCSC Marketing Intern

Dates of Service: September 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020

Position Responsibilities:

·      Design and present social media content / campaigns.

·      Help with the planning, hosting and marketing events.

·      Assist with daily administrative duties.

·      Perform market analysis and research on latest trends in the science center, STEAM and mobile science community.

·      Prepare promotional collateral, flyers, advertisements, presentations and website content.

·      Manage production of quarterly KCSC NEWSletter.

·      Support development of communications around KCSC organizational elements like core values, key messages and outreach plans.

·      Facilitate employee training in KCSC organizational information.

·      Participate in collaboration with Fujita & Miura Public Relations, FMPR thru December 18, 2020.

·      May participate and assist with live, STEAM hands-on learning activities for participants of all ages via the KCSC HOTspot.

·      Communicate with people and address questions as they arise.

·      Collaborate with staff and partner organizations to develop and support STEAM projects as well as the dissemination of other related information and resources from non-STEAM partner organizations.

·      May need to drive KCSC HOTspot, a Ford Transit Cargo Van.

 

 

Position Requirements:

·      Be at least 18 years old on their first day of service.

·      Have a valid Hawaii Driver’s License.

·      Be able to provide documentation of their right to work in the United States.

·      Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency

·      Applicants must meet the standards of the State of Hawaii background check requirements which includes sex offender registry check, state criminal history registry check, and FBI fingerprint-based check.

·      Dress appropriately; i.e., in the KCSC uniform.

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·      Skilled in managing social media accounts and content development.

·      Four-year degree in marketing, communications, business management or related field.

·      Interest in science and related fields is a plus, but not required.

·      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·      Access to a reliable vehicle or method of transportation.

·      Strong organizational skills.

·      Technology literate with the ability to use virtual meeting platforms and online programs.

Compensation: Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week, $15.75/hour

Schedule:

·      Although KCSC HOTspot will follow a set, to-be-determined schedule for WIFI service, flexibility will be required due to evolving Covid-19 rules. There is flexibility to work remotely.

Covid-19 Considerations:

·      KCSC will require social distancing, the use of masks and any other requirements defined by at our workplace and any place that we operate. Masks, hand-sanitizer and a washing station will be provided. KCSC will adhere to all county and state Covid-19 rules, whichever is stricter.
