Job Description




RCUH Corporate Human Resources Department.  (2) Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Human Resources Department, Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) core staff located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 


MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $3,250-$3,500/Mon. 


DUTIES:  Assists in office administration, event planning and administrative affairs (e.g., budget, purchasing, etc.) of the Corporate Human Resources Department.  The RCUH employs over 2,600+ employees in Hawai‘i, servicing a broad range of clientele primarily in research and high technology business. Provides administrative support and works under the direction of respective supervisor. Provides the Human Resources Department with administrative support to facilitate and organize the department’s mission. 


PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.  (Associate’s Degree or equivalent with one to three (1-3) years of experience in administrative office work may substitute for Bachelor’s Degree dependent upon ability to demonstrate competence).  EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of progressively responsible experience, which demonstrates knowledge of office administrative work.  Experience working in a large corporation whose focus is in customer service/support of a broad range of clientele is highly preferred.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Knowledge of office administration, basic accounting, event planning/organizing, and general business/office practices.  Knowledge and competence in PC business office software applications (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, E-Mail, Internet, etc.).  Must express enthusiasm and a willingness to learn job duties and RCUH policies and procedures quickly with a high level of energy. Ability to proof-read business and confidential letters, reports and other documents.  Ability to use electronic communications (email, web/Internet enabled work processes), maintains budgets, and handle fiscal transactions.  Must possess business communication skills (i.e., proofread, style, spelling, grammar, etc.), and strong skills in the use of PC or Mac personal computer, office machines, and other office automation practices (e.g., scanning, electronic documents, etc.).  Ability to do work with speed and accuracy.  Post Offer/Employment Condition:  Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Strong office technology skills.  Experience in a human resources/personnel office.  Familiarity with UH and RCUH personnel policies and procedures.
