AHEC PROJECT ASSOCIATE – ID# 18390.<​/strong> 

 

John A. Burns School of Medicine.  Regular, Part-Time (50% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), Hawai‘i/Pacific Basic Area Health Education Center (AHEC), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY:  $1,364/Mon. (@50% FTE). 

 

DUTIES:  Performs non-routine research and organizational tasks related to the coordination and oversight of projects to ensure timely and effective project development and completion while maintaining multiple requirements dictated by extramural sponsors. Develops new methodologies, tools, and sustainable systems to maximize programmatic effectiveness and functionality. Analyzes resources, budgets, timelines, and institutes training programs for sub-awardees. Prepares fiscal inputs for all required reports and develops an annual project management plan. Assists with the preparation and submission of proposals, grant renewals, annual reports, and other initiatives.  Prepares amendments to awards and sub-awards and monitors expenditures and cost-sharing reports. Responsible for the execution of personnel, procurement, and project-related transactions of all AHEC programs. Organizes meetings, updates project schedules, informs necessary parties of deadlines, writes workflow procedures, trains project staff, and maintains project management strategy software. 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.  EXPERIENCE:  Two to four (2-4) years of related work experience which includes fiscal monitoring, program coordination, budget projection, and project implementation. Experience dealing with multiple tasks and frequent deadlines in a high pressure environment.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Working knowledge of accounting principles, contractual agreements, programmatic tracking, evaluation methods, database utilization, and reporting.  Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Possesses the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, as well as comprehend complex verbal and written instructions, policies, guidelines, contractual agreements, and laws. Ability to learn and integrate new software programs for departmental utilization. Ability to accurately review and complete detail-oriented information and projects. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.  Post Offer/Employment Condition:  Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.  PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to travel throughout and outside the State of Hawai‘i. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Business Administration, Health Sciences, or related field. Experience writing and reporting on federal, state, and private grants. Experience in project management, grant writing, preparing written reports, and interpretation of data. Working knowledge of health education network and health care agencies. Knowledge of project planning methodologies such as critical path planning.
