Job Description

Seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant for a leading engineering company! This full-time role combines the technical skills to understand a complex project billing and accounting system and the ability to communicate detailed information to customers and staff.


The ideal candidate possesses outstanding communication skills and attention to detail, an interest in teamwork and collaboration, and the desire to work in a creative professional environment. Pay is dependent on experience. 


Addi​tional Responsibilities:


  • Assist with project billing from beginning to completion for both the Honolulu and Guam offices
  • Prepare monthly draft bills for Project Manager and General Manager review and make revisions as needed
  • Research and resolve billing inquiries and issues from clients or staff
  • Track and pursue accounts receivable over 60 days
  • Set up new projects in the accounting system, maintain project billing, and assist with project budget maintenance
  • Manage accounts payable, including coding hard-copy invoices, obtaining approval, and e-filing
  • Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to check deposits, cash disbursement journal, data entry, certificate management, and marketing support as needed


Required Education and Qualifications:


  • Two-year Degree or higher preferred
  • Three or more years of accounting experience with an engineering, consulting, or other project-based firm desirable
  • Experience with BST and FileMaker Pro
  • Hawaii General Excise Tax return preparation a plus
  • Ability to independently manage time and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
