Job Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Guest Services Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the Center, including exhibit galleries, cafe, reception, and office administration during open hours. This role provides guidance to staff, volunteers, and interns, serving as a role model and problem solver while supporting the implementation of standards, training, and guest services. The Assistant Guest Services Manager participates in special events or after-hours programs as needed.

 

Qualifications: 
  • Experience in guest services or hospitality.
  • Preferred familiarity with Point of Sales systems.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and able to adapt to change with ease.
  • Hands-on, self-starter able to work independently while collaborating with staff, volunteers and interns.
  • Comfortable working with children, families, and a variety of staff roles.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Center’s mission.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support daily guest services operations of front of house staff, including galleries, cafe, and reception.
  • Assist with Reception, Cafe, and gallery coverage as needed.
  • Help coordinate staff breaks and coverage to maintain smooth operations.
  • Assist with programs, camps and special events.
  • Observe, model, and coach gallery and guest services staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Provide excellent customer service by anticipating and responding to visitor needs.
  • Ensure that any exhibit issues are addressed promptly to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and professional development of staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Serve as a first responder to minor and major accidents; record, track, and follow up as needed.
  • Support the development, training, and implementation of gallery programs.
  • Maintain appearance and organization of office, supply areas, and shared spaces.
  • Assist in human resources functions such as scheduling, onboarding, and coordination of volunteers and interns.
  • Manage projects, resources, and timelines effectively and efficiently.
  • Model professional communication, flexibility, and a positive attitude in all situations.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory orientation and training sessions
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, during school breaks and to accommodate special events.
  • Active role requiring standing, walking, and frequent guest interaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
