Job Description

 

We are looking for an Automotive Engine Machinist or entry-level helper to operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. You will rebuild or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements. 

 

A great Automotive Engine Machinist needs to possess manual dexterity with an eye for detail. They must also have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.  The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures.

 

Please note: the skills and responsibilities of an Engine Machinist vary greatly from a General Machinist.  While there are some shared skills, Engine Machining requires automotive knowledge and uses tooling and machinery specific to the trade.

 

Responsibilities include:

·         Assessing damage and wear in automotive parts using precision measurement and visual cues.

·         Identifying corrective procedures and reporting findings to manager for approval.

·         Performing corrective work in an efficient and thorough manner.

·         Follow detailed instruction to perform precision work.

·         Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.

·         Work as a team player supporting other employees as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Good at math with analytical abilities.

·         Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items

·         High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be

          an asset

 

Preferred qualifications:

·         Proven experience as an automotive engine machinist

·         Ability to diagnose automotive engine failures based on established protocols

·         Experience in using manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)

·         Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements

·         Basic knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials

·         Ability to read schematics, manuals and instructions

 

 

On-the-job training is available for applicants with little experience who meet the core requirements.  Compensation is based on skill level and experience.  Productivity bonuses are also available.
