MONTHLY SALARY: $5,268 C step


DIVISION: Proposed Transportation Rail Division

POSITION: Building & Equipment Maintenance Superintendent, NC-24, BU-04

LOCATION OF POSITION:  Rail Operations Center, 635/645 Middle Street, Other


DUTIES SUMMARY: Plans, directs, and coordinates, through subordinate supervisors and journey level workers of a wide variety of trades in the proposed Rail Facilities Management and Maintenance Branch, all work involved in the renovation, repair, and maintenance of the rail facilities.


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of experience in supervising construction, renovation, repair or maintenance work over skilled tradespeople on commercial, industrial or public buildings that demonstrated the ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize various projects or activities; prepare cost estimates for labor, equipment and materials; and review the work of others.


LICENSE REQUIREMENT:  Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license, as required.


KNOWLEDGE OF:  Principles and practices of supervision; practices, methods, tolls, materials and equipment used in the general building and mechanical trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, painting, and welding repair; applicable building and zoning codes and ordinances, including electrical and plumbing codes; budget preparation; departmental policies and procedures; and occupational hazards and safety principles and practices applicable to various trades.


ABILITY TO:  Plan, assign, review and coordinates a building and equipment maintenance and repair program; establish work policies and procedures; prepare budget estimates; estimate time, labor, material and equipment requirements; review building plans and specifications; issue clear and concise oral and written instructions; maintain good working relationships with others; and maintain records and prepare reports
