COVID-19 Additional Surge Staff (CASS) Public Health Educator III

Up to $4,252 per month, salary commensurate with training and experience

 

Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in developing media campaigns/programs; develop educational materials and public presentations related to prevention of reportable diseases; assist the subject matter expert (SME) staff to develop and maintain training protocols; coordinate or participate in responses to public inquiries and coordinate the response of the DOH and district health offices to public issues of concern with the input of SME(s) and the communication/information specialists.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:  Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

 

EXPERIENCE:  One to two years of professional experience in community health education which involved educating the public in the prevention of disease and other unhealthy conditions and working as a consultant to other professionally trained individuals such as physicians, nurses, social workers and teachers.

 

LICENSE:  Hawaii State Drivers’ License preferred.  Certified health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.

This position is exempt. Employment in such positions is considered to be “at will.” This is a

12-month appointment, federally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for the budget period beginning August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2022. Continued funding is dependent on successful non-competitive applications prior to each grant year.
