Job Description

The Director of Development is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive fund development programs that align with and support Helping Hands Hawai'i's strategic plans and visions. Programs include the areas of annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts, gift planning and stakeholder/ donor relations. The Director of Development provides expertise to position Helping Hands Hawai'i for strategic growth in total revenue on a sustainable basis, while building a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. Complies with company code of ethics, confidentiality, HIPAA, safety and all other policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Certifications: Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) desired.
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated development experience in a professional leadership position, including experience in the development and cultivation of multiple donor sources.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft as well as InDesign, Photoshop, Wordpress and other social medial tools.
  • Demonstrated track record in setting and achieving goals and in building effective teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license.
