Director of Human Resources

We're seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Human Resources to join the Hawaiian Humane Society. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to provide strategic vision and guidance to shape our organizational culture, drive employee engagement, and ensure we attract and retain top talent committed to our mission.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with our organization's goals and values
- Oversee all strategic and operational activities of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, payroll, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), training, unemployment, workers' compensation, and the wellness, safety and employee relations
- Design and implement competitive compensation and benefits programs
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
- Develop and manage HR policies and procedures
- Create and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Collaborate with leadership to address organizational challenges and opportunities
- Manage HR budget and resources effectively
- Implement HR technology solutions to streamline processes and improve efficiency

Requirements:

- A bachelor’s degree and three (3) years’ experience of increasing responsibility as a Human Resources Manager in a broad range of HR functions OR
- Five (5) years’ experience of increasing responsibility as a generalist in a broad range of HR functions OR
- Any appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices and labor laws
- Experience in the nonprofit preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred
