Role Summary

The Director of Marketing & Communications is the chief storyteller and guardian of the Hanahau'oli School brand. This key leadership role reports to the Head of School and is responsible for creating a powerful, integrated communications strategy that champions the school's mission and guiding beliefs.  The Director of Marketing & Communications’ work is critical for maintaining the school’s strong and positive reputation in the community and preparing for its upcoming impactful projects by sharing Hanahau‘oli's story in powerful, effective, and compelling ways.

Hanahau‘oli School is an independent school with 233 students in Junior Kindergarten through 6th Grade. Hanahau‘oli nurtures life-long learners, including its children, teachers, and parents. Since the school’s founding in 1918, Hanahau‘oli honors the natural way children learn—through doing—by making learning exciting, challenging, and enjoyable. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the School’s Communications and Brand: Enhance and refine the school's brand as a means to amplify its guiding beliefs. Ensure every communication platform speaks with one clear, authentic, and consistent institutional voice.
  • Integrated Communications: Work hand-in-hand with internal teams to design marketing and communication strategies that drive constituent and community engagement. 
  • Digital Strategy: Develop and manage the school’s digital communications, including areas such as the websites, social media channels, mass email campaigns, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), to boost online visibility and engagement. 
  • Content & Publication Strategy: Oversee key, community-wide publications alongside internal departments, developing powerful, campaign-aligned stories that illustrate the school's impact and offerings.
  • Operations & Contingency Planning: Lead all communication during urgent or sensitive situations as a core member of the crisis management team.
