PURPOSE:
DFS-HONOLULU a program under YWCA Oahu is one of many Dress for Success affiliates worldwide offering services designed to help our clients find jobs and remain employed. The DFS mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life.
Focus will be on maintaining high quality DFS programs which include, but are not limited to: Suiting (business attire), Job Readiness, Job Training/Coaching, Financial Literacy, Job Retention and career development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTION:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in business, management or social service or equivalent and related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience of at least four years. Management-level experience in direct service programs and/or other management experience that includes supervisory experience required. as job duties of the position is heavily weighted in program management. Work experience in retail, volunteer management, and non-profit desirable.
COMPUTER/EQUIPMENT SKILLS An individual must have a working knowledge of personal computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc.) and virtual telecommunications platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. Must be able to use printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, cell phone, video conference equipment. Experience with online data management and retail management platforms preferred.

Individuals must possess the ability to exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff, partners, and any other individuals with whom they interact for the purposes of this position via verbal, written, physical and electronic correspondence. Effective communication skills is required; the manager must be able to communicate instructions clearly, be adept at providing feedback, both positive and negative, as well as receive constructive criticism with empathy and compassion. The manager must be able to provide leadership for the team that encourages accountability, teamwork and striving to meet program goals. Must be able to understand program goals and the broader goal and mission of the organization and motivate the team to provide the services from this perspective. The Manager must be able to take initiative while also providing support, motivation and accountability for other team members. Individual must be able to problem-solve quickly and delegate appropriately. Effective time-management and ability to prioritize appropriately is essential. Individual must be able to represent Dress for Success and embody its mission in all aspects, to include professional appearance, appropriate communication and engagement with staff, clients, and the community, and deliver the program services in a manner that is sensitive and supportive for all clients. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills are required. Must be able to effectively and comfortably conduct presentations about the program to varied audiences with minimal prep time. Skilled in retail sales and merchandising, with experience in successfully managing complex projects that involve multiple participants to achieve results. Able to work and communicate appropriately, effectively and professionally with diverse groups including clients, Board of Directors, donors, volunteers, the public and other staff. Strong business and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and cope with stress that may be induced by the life experiences of program participants.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS:
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm or otherwise determined by the supervisor. This position requires periodic work outside of regular business hours, to include evenings and weekends. Travel to other locations periodically is also required. Work performed primarily in an air-conditioned, smoke-free office environment of DFSH and its merchandise storage areas. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
