INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC)

Up to $5,076 - $6,177 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, Non-Civil Service, Full-Time, Temporary Appointment.  The primary purpose of this position is conduct electronic data processing systems analysis, systems design, systems development, systems implementation, and systems maintenance for all computer platforms including microcomputers, minicomputers, and mainframe computers within the DOCD.  This position also conducts assessments, develop requirements, research and acquire price quotes, and write business justifications for hardware/software acquisition, in addition to providing user support and training for information technology application systems and related communications  hardware and software, including but not limited to VTC, satellite, Local Area Network and Wide Area Network, and negotiates and monitors vendors that provide IT services to the program.  This position thereby assures DOCD may fulfill its public health mission as subject matter programs and staff are then able to focus on their respective technical areas.

 

 

Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:  Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer sciences, or a related field of study.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Two and one half (2 1/2) years of progressively responsible work experience in computer systems analysis that involved the analysis, design, development implementation and review of systems for electronica processing of data.

 

Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information technology, computer sciences, or related field may be substituted for 1 year of Specialized Experience.

 

LICENSE:  Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license preferred.

This position is exempt from civil service. Employment in such positions is considered to be “at will.” This position can be up to a 24-month appointment, federally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for the budget period beginning August 1, 2023 – July 31, 2024.  Continuation of this position will be dependent on a successful application for subsequent grant periods.
