Job Description

EOC/ETS PROGRAM SPECIALIST – ID# 18674. 

 

University of Hawai‘i Maui College.  (2) Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai‘i Maui College (UHMC), Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), Educational Talent Search Program, located in Kahului, Maui.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MONTHLY SALARY:  Salary commensurate with qualifications. 

 

DUTIES:  Serves as a UHMC point of contact for EOC and ETSprogram participants that provides informational services, outreach, and referrals. Primary focus will be the target population of students who identify as first generation to college and low income.Collaborates with the target schools, community partners, and UHMC partnering departments to coordinators to serve eligible participants.  Assists EOC and Talent Search program participants with the post secondary process.  Assists program participants with completing post secondary applications, exploring career options, and preparing for post secondary enrollment. Assists with collecting necessary documentation to demonstrate objectives were met for each grant. 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.  EXPERIENCE:  At least two (2) years of relevant experience providing outreach, referrals, or counseling.  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Basic knowledge of post-secondary education programs, practices, and procedures.  Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well with others.  Ability to examine information and arrive at solutions or take appropriate actions.  Ability to establish, maintain, and secure student records and files, including computerized data files.  Must possess computer software skills with commonly used professional software programs, and ability with social media. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.  Post Offer/Employment Condition:  Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.  PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds, stand for several hours, and spend hours looking at a computer screen. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with externally funded projects, grant data tracking, report writing, and social network skills.  Working knowledge of Blumen and Star systems.
