Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC)

Up to $6,667 per month, salary commensurate with training and experience


Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. The primary purpose of this position is to gather and analyzing large sets of structured and unstructured data; analyze, process, and model data then interprets the results to create actionable plans for companies and other organizations.  The position will facilitate the collection of data and transforming it into a more usable format for analysis and decision-making and for detecting, understanding, controlling, and preventing infectious diseases in the population.



Minimum Qualifications


EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/ university in Computer Science (includes coursework in data science/analytics), Statistics, Economics, or other closely related field.


EXPERIENCE:  At least two years of experience in solving business problems with advanced analytical solutions.  Proven experience in conducting statistical analysis and building models with advanced scripting language such as R, SPSS or other analytic tolls.  Experience with statistical software, scripting languages, and packages (e.g., R, MATLAB, SAS, and Python).


At least one year’s experience in building and deploying predictive models, web scrapping, and scalable data pipelines.


LICENSE:  Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license is preferred.

This position is exempt. Employment in such positions is considered to be “at will.” This is a

12-month appointment, federally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),

Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for the budget period beginning August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2022. Continued funding is dependent on successful non-competitive applications prior to each grant year.
