Data Engineer Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC)

Up to $6425 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, Non-Civil Service, Full-Time, Temporary Appointment.  The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the design, building, installation, testing, and maintenance of data infrastructure, including databases, data management systems, and large-scale data processing systems, that are secure, scalable, and reliable.  The position will coordinate the design, deployment, and management of infrastructure that allows access to structured and unstructured data, transforms data into useable formats for analysis, and develops models using analytic software and coding skills and tools to detect, prevent, and control infectious diseases and adverse health events in the population.

 

Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:  Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, mathematics, science, statistics, economics, engineering, data science, informatics, information science, information systems, information technology, business analytics, or a related field is required.

 

Masters degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, mathematics, science, statistics, economics, engineering, data science, informatics, information science, information systems, information technology, business analytics, public health, or related field is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  At least two years of data engineering experience including developing and maintaining relational and non-relational databases and data processing systems; building and managing scalable data pipelines and workflows; and preparing data for analytic and machine learning projects.  Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative statistical analysis; and deploying quantitative models in production environments.  Must have demonstrated experience SQL, Python, statistical and data visualization software (e.g., R, SAS, Tableau, Power Bl).

 

LICENSE:  Valid State of Hawaii drivers license is preferred.
