Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC)
$6,200 - $6,450 per month, salary commensurate with training and experience
Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. This position provides advice and guidance to healthcare on infection control practices and strategies for the surveillance, prevention, and control of infectious diseases, specifically, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), antimicrobial resistant organisms, and adverse events in Hawaii healthcare settings.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college with a bachelor’s degree.
Graduation with a baccalaureate degree, which included a public health/community health nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing, and a license to practice professional nursing in the State of Hawaii is desirable.
Graduation with a baccalaureate degree in public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field is desirable.
EXPERIENCE: Work experience in infection prevention and control with active participation in infection prevention control programs or research, or both, to reduce HAIs in targeted settings (e.g., dialysis, long-term care, outpatient, long term acute care hospitals, and acute care).
Prior work experience in infection control and prevention preferred.
LICENSE: Valid Hawaii State Drivers License, Class 3, is preferred.

This position is exempt from civil service. Employment in such positions is considered to be “at will.” This position can be up to a 24-month appointment, federally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for the budget period beginning August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2024. Continuation of this position will be dependent on a successful application for subsequent grant periods.
