Pono Pacific Land Management, LLC is seeking qualified candidates (full-time and part-time) to primarily conduct invasive vegetation management and fence construction on Maui and Lanai. Vegetation management methods include both mechanical (weed whacking/brush cutting/chain sawing) and chemical (applying herbicide). The applicant must be capable of safely handling and operating hand/power tools, understanding herbicide labels and safety, have familiarity with constructing fence, and be able to work independently or in small groups. Other duties may include (but are not limited to) invasive species control, and native habitat restoration. Ability to travel inter-island for multiple nights is required (particularly to Lanai and Oahu).
Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Internet access and email capability (for scheduling and HR purposes)
Ability to read and understand (English) equipment and product labels for safety and proper use
Ability to operate power tools such as weed trimmer or chainsaw
Experience/familiarity with conservation fencing techniques (ungulate-proof, predator-proof, chainlink, etc.)
Experience/familiarity working with herbicide (basic safety, ability to calculate simple mixtures, etc.)
Be accountable and punctual
Follow directions and be able to work independently or in a small team
Ability to travel off-island for up to two weeks at a time.
Hawaii Pesticide Applicators License (may increase pay)
Experience in conservation, land management, agriculture, ranching, or closely related field
Experience operating heavy machinery (excavator)
Starting at $18 per hour depending on qualifications, with advancement opportunities
