Oahu Care Facility (OCF) is seeking a Lead Cook to bring skill, organization, and heart to our Dietary Services Department. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example, takes pride in quality food preparation, and understands the importance of nutrition in resident care.
As Lead Cook, you’ll play a key role in meal preparation, kitchen coordination, and supporting dietary staff to ensure our residents receive safe, nutritious, and flavorful meals every day.
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with planned menus, therapeutic diets, and portion control guidelines
Lead and support dietary staff during assigned shifts
Ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety, and infection control standards
Monitor food quality, temperature, presentation, and timeliness
Assist with inventory control, proper storage, and rotation of food supplies
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
Communicate effectively with Dietary Manager and interdisciplinary team
Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and accountability
Previous experience as a cook in healthcare, long-term care, or high-volume food service preferred
Leadership or lead cook experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of modified diets (mechanical soft, puree, renal, diabetic, etc.) a plus
Food safety and sanitation knowledge required
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
