Job Description



RCUH Corporate Human Resources Department.  (3) Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Human Resources Department, Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) core staff located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 




DUTIES:  Performs clerical work assignments in various human resources functions to facilitate employment, employee benefits, payroll or data entry processes. Assignments will vary in complexity and levels of responsibilities.  Handles routine to semi-routine tasks in an efficient manner, which includes but not limited to data entry/audit of personnel actions, processing various actions, handling emails and assistance with various human resources job assignments, processes and actions related applicable RCUH policies, procedures, or employment regulations. Handles specific work assigns based on demonstrated competence, while expanding job knowledge in learning and performing other related job assignment.  Attentively learns and acquires additional job skills to increase depth and breadth of work assignments. This includes but not limited to, various human resources functions, processes and related policies, procedures, and regulations.  Retention will depend on demonstrated abilities and competencies. 


PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING:  Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Business Administration or related field.  EXPERIENCE:  One to three (1-3) years of experience in clerical support and customer service that provides proficiency in the following areas: sorting, organizing, and verifying completeness and accuracy of documents. Bachelor’s Degree and related training may substitute for some or all experience dependent on ability to demonstrate required competencies or necessary skills to perform the job’s duties.)..  ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS:  Knowledge of office operations, personal computer applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, internet), and office equipment. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment while assisting supervisors, administrators and employees via frequent phone calls and emails, daily. Ability to work and complete assignments efficiently and accurately.  Ability to demonstrate competence of handling assignments independently.Must possess basic administrative skills, and some basic computer skills to.Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Proficient in keyboarding (i.e., acceptable speed and accuracy). Proven customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check for working with highly confidential and sensitive information, which includes being fingerprinted and having a federal background check performed.  POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:  As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).  


SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, preferred in Human Resources.  Work experience in a Human Resources Office performing similar job duties.  Data entry work experience with Human Resources Information Systems (i.e. PeopleSoft) or other specialized Human Resources Management or information system.
