Host/Hostess

Full-time or Part-Time position available

 

53 By the Sea is one of the island’s premier fine dining experiences with sweeping views of Waikiki, Diamond Head, and the rolling surf at Kakaako. We serve Hawaii Regional Cuisine which utilizes local products, support local farmers as much as possible, and uses modern cooking techniques. Here at 53 By the Sea, we strive to provide an elevated level of service through our core values and ensure that each guest receives authentic hospitality.

The Host/Hostess upholds Ocean Investments, LLC’s company Core Values, Vision, and Mission. The Host/Hostess is one of the first interactions that guests has with the restaurant. Having this in mind, the Host/Hostess must always be attentive and warm welcoming to service all guests to the standards of the house.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for answering all telephone calls in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Take reservations and all pertinent information in regards to the restaurant, and delegating special seating arrangements per reservation.
  • Ensure the tables are properly set according to the floor plan for the upcoming service(s).
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of guest restrooms and address any deficiencies, this includes restocking the restrooms with the appropriate amounts of materials.
  • Check in guests through OpenTable accordingly
  • Must have knowledge of the restaurant’s history and restaurant policies.
  • Basic knowledge of menu to answer guests’ questions.
  • To be able to remember regulars/VIPs by name.
  • Escort guests to table following house standards (pulling out chairs, placing colored napkins, placing menus on table).
  • Communicates with manager and/or kitchen with special requests of guests.
  • To be able to acknowledge when guests are leaving and opening the door and asking if they would like a picture on our signature staircase.
  • Attends and participates at mandatory staff meetings and classes.
  • Is involved in on-premise and off-property promotions for the restaurant.
  • May be filmed or photographed by the restaurant for marketing, recruiting, educational or other purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the managers and supervisors.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 1 year of related experience and/or training

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Must possess knowledge of sequence of service
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Liquor Card
  • TB Clearance
