Job Description

The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Human Resources department by managing and coordinating a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. This position serves as a primary point of contact for employees and supports the development and implementation of HR initiatives that enhance the employee experience. While the primary focus is HR, this role will also provide limited administrative support to the accounting area as needed. Due to the organizational needs of the company this position is on sight.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the primary list below and other inherent duties and responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts, including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communications. Prepare letters and facilitate background checks.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless experience for new hires and departing employees. Conduct orientations, manage documentation, and coordinate exit interviews.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS (HR Symphony) and physical files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Serve as a liaison for employee benefits, assisting with enrollment, changes, and inquiries. Coordinate with external HR partners to resolve issues and maintain accurate benefit records.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies. Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding employee documentation and personnel action forms to ensure timely submission and compliance with internal processes.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employees, addressing HR-related inquiries and supporting employee relations efforts.
  • Support and help lead HR programs and initiatives, including employee engagement, wellness, and training programs.
  • Generate HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and compliance.
  • Provide administrative support to the accounting department, including handling bank deposits, cash receipts and petty cash.
  • Draft and distribute internal HR communications.
  • Lead the planning and execution of employee events, training sessions, and company-wide initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Certificate in Business Administration, Human Resources or Business Administration required.
  • 2+ years of experience in human resources, or 5 years of HR experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, employment laws, and HRIS systems.
  • Familiarity with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and writing skills with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Hawaii Driver’s License required.
  • Clean criminal and driving record; position involves working with, training, and interacting with minors.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HR (Professional in Human Resources) or SHRM-CP certification a plus.
WORK SCHEDULE:

The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
