Lanakila Pacific is a family of programs and services designed to help people with cognitive, physical,
social, or age-related challenges, build independence and improve their quality of life. Disability
Services include programs and initiatives for mission advancement that are funded through multiple
contracts with the Hawaii State Department of Health, Department of Human Services, Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation, and private sources. Disability Services collaborates with LP Social
Enterprises and LP Senior Services with an emphasis on employment training and placement, a core
service of the agency.
POSITION OVERVIEW:Job Coaches II specializes in assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to
meet their vocational goals in accordance with Lanakila Pacific’s values and program standards. Job
Coaches II provide instruction in learning soft and hard skills through classroom instruction and center
and community-based services. Through structured intervention techniques, Job Coaches II assist
people with disabilities in learning to perform job tasks to the employer's specifications and to learn
employment-related soft skills. In addition to job-site training, Job Coaching includes related
assessment, job development, counseling, disability awareness building, job accommodations, social
support, problem-solving, advocacy, travel training, and the development of natural supports needed
to maintain employment. Job Coaches II work collaboratively with Employment Specialists to support
the mission, vision, and values of the organization, uphold and enforce the guidelines and policies of
the organization, and demonstrate Lanakila Pacific’s values of teamwork, excellence, achievement,
and motivation in all personal interactions and exemplifies Lanakila Pacific’s STAR service standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Position Specific Duties
Work Skills Instruction and Coaching
• Acts as primary staff for on-the-job coaching in community employment and training settings.
• Observe and coach participants in both workplace and classroom environments.
• Help individuals with disabilities develop social, life, and technical skills through group
instruction and one-on-one coaching.
• Assist Employment Specialists in developing and executing classroom-based activities aimed at building employment-related skills.
• Demonstrate and teach workplace expectations.
• Understand essential job tasks and provide coaching tailored to participants’ learning styles and abilities.
• Identify participants' strengths to deliver person-centered employment services.
Employment and Resource Navigation
• Work with Employment Specialist(s) to execute and document employment plans that fit the individual’s aptitudes, education level, physical abilities, interests, priorities, and career goals.
• Assist clients in overcoming employment barriers and pursuing personal and career-related goals.
• Support the integration of external resources and services with the client’s employment plan at Lanakila Pacific.
• Consult with Employment Specialist and Employment Services Management to identify and advise employers on workplace accommodation for people with disabilities.
Administration
• Communicate effectively with all clients, Lanakila Pacific’s programs/departments, and staff, both orally and in writing. Read and understand written material and write effectively to meet the job requirements.
• Communicate with Lanakila Pacific Employment Services staff orally and in writing to coordinate service delivery with client support systems, referral sources, and employer partners.
• Document services provided and progression towards employment goals and objectives.
Other Duties:
• Demonstrates cultural competency and the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, and cognitive abilities without bias.
• Ensures all safety procedures and practices are followed and enforced, and that safeguards and proper safety gear, such as gloves, are used when appropriate.
• Demonstrates the ability to work with confidential information and comply with established policies, procedures, and practices.
• Demonstrates a willingness to gain and possess thorough knowledge of Lanakila Pacific’s programs and seeks ongoing educational opportunities related to the position.
• Performs other reasonably related business duties as assigned.
• Completes training as mandated by organizational policy.
WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS:• Scheduled to work 5 days a week. Monday to Friday, 7:30am-4:30 pm. 8-hour shift may vary. May be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and holidays to meet operational needs and contract requirements.
• Indoor, office setting, outdoors; may need to do deliveries, travel to other program sites, meeting sites, etc., as required.
EQUIPMENT USE: • Basic level proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Database, or comparable programs or other comparable programs
• Other standard office equipment such as computer, laptop, copy machine, printer, fax machine, projector, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Required:
• Education: High School Diploma
• Experience: Minimum of one year of work experience teaching, coaching, facilitating, or working with individuals with various disabilities or similar populations.
• Clearance/Certification: Must maintain the following clearances/certification: 1) annual TB clearance, 2) current First Aid and CPR Certification (Obtain on the job), 3) Criminal Background check, 4) Pre-employment drug testing, 5) Child Protective Service check and Adult Protective Service check, 6) Fieldprint Fingerprinting, 7) List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract with access to an insured vehicle
Preferred:
• Education: Associate degree, preferably in psychology, social or human services, education, or another field from an accredited college or university
• Completion of competency-based training in Employment Services
