Lunalilo Home seeks a Junior / Staff Accountant to join the accounting team. Employment type (Part-Time/Full Time) will be determined based off experience and has the potential for advancement. The position will support the Finance Director directly with the day-to-day operations and finances of Lunalilo Home. The candidate should possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively.

Primary Purpose:

Maintain daily financial records and accounting entries for Lunalilo Trust and Home while complying with GAAP.


Essential Functions:

• Complete daily accounts payable entry, processing, and filing.

• Complete monthly accounts receivable entries and processing.

• Receive queries for both accounts payable and accounts receivables.

• Maintain vendor and customer lists.

• Conduct reconciliations that involve fiscal matters as assigned.

• Contribute in reconciling accounts for company audit preparations.

• Works in concert with the Finance Director and management team to prepare all essential functions of month ended closing entries.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Work hours: This is a non-exempt position. General office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Employee may be required to work on weekday holidays, evenings, and weekends based on the operational needs of Lunalilo Trust Home. Schedule will be determined by workload.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

Employee will be able to flexibly manage time and projects in working with colleagues and other professionals with multiple and potentially conflicting priorities and deadlines.

Communication Requirements:

Employee must have excellent written and oral communication skills to include, but not limited to demonstrated written and verbal ability that will facilitate interaction with a variety of individuals.

Equipment Use:

Employee will use a computer, telephone, cell phone, fax machine, and photocopier.



• Demonstrated commitment to Hawaiian values and culture.

• Associate degree in business administration or equivalent combination of education and or experiences.

• Proven analytical ability and problem solving skills in a workplace and or educational setting.

• Ten key proficient.



• Familiar with the care needs and policies related to elder/kupuna care.

• Demonstrated commitment to and experience incorporating Native Hawaiian values and culture in a business and/or care setting.

• Knowledge of QuickBooks software and or Blackbaud/e-tapestry.
