TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Temporary up to 6/30/2022 and may be renewed subject to funding availability and approval 

MONTHLY SALARY: $5,251 

TYPE OF RECRUITMENT: Open 

DIVISION: Proposed Transportation Rail Division 

POSITION: Lead Building Maintenance Repairer, WS-09

LOCATION OF POSITION: Rail Operations Center, 635/645 Middle Street, Other 
 
DUTIES SUMMARY: Superv​ises and participates in a wide variety of work involved in the repair and maintenance of rail facilities including the Operations and Services Building, Maintenance-of-Way building, and surrounding facilities at the Rail Operations Center, all stations along the rail corridor, rail parking facilities, and other facilities under the jurisdiction of the proposed Rail Facilities Management and Maintenance Branch, as directed.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show demonstrated competence in performing the journey level duties of a Building Maintenance Repairer.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Hawaii State Driver's License (Type 3).

KNOWLEDGE OF: The practices, tools, equipment and materials used in the carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, mechanical and electrical trades; plumbing and electrical equipment in buildings; occupational hazards; safety practices and procedures.

ABILITY TO: Determine maintenance and repair needs involving a variety of building trades; demonstrate proper work methods and set the pace; operate hand and power tools utilized in a variety of building trades; interpret blueprints and sketches; estimate time and materials needed to perform a job; encourage safety practices and enforce safety rules; give and follow oral and written instructions; assign and review work of subordinates engaged in maintenance and repair work; supervise and maintain harmony in work relationships among workers; handle weights and loads.
