Lead Telecom Specialist

• Strong understanding of reading construction drawings, calculating and performing measurements for takeoffs to form a Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Excellent understanding of voice and data cabling including copper, fiber optics and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Proficient in understanding of Codes, Standards and Technical Manuals such as; NEC National Electrical Code, TIA Telecommunications Industry Association and BICSI.
• Installing telecommunications equipment, routers, and switches, establishing connections, and programming features following industry standards.
• Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
• Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment and OSP/ISP issues.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Military Installation Access: Must be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass (successful pass of background check). Must be a U.S. citizen.

Clearance Requirements: Must be able to qualify for and obtain an active Secret security clearance.

Education and Experience: This position requires a minimum of Five years of experience within the field of telecommunications installation and a BICSI Certification is preferred. HS Diploma or GED & Technical Trade School, military service, or related experience is required, but a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Able to obtain industry and manufacturer certifications.

Travel:  Work will be performed at various military base/post/camp/stations within the State of Hawaii (outer islands included).  Occasional local travel may be required in support of this position.

Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise. Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work. Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
