(3) Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC), Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program’s Maui Support for Technical and Research Services (MSTARS), located at the Maui Research and Technology Park (MRTP) in Maui, Hawai‘i. This position will conduct research under the University of Hawai‘i Maui Support for Technical and Research Services (MSTARS) contract. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $8,500 - $11,500/Mon.
DUTIES: Under general supervision, provides intermediate level systems management support for hardware and software configurations in a large scale, high performance, and scalable production-computing environment at the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC). Assists in the management of user accounts and system configurations.Develops system scripts and utilities. Participates in the evaluation and resolution of system problems, and contributes to the continued availability of the computational environment. Provides technical support in the areas of hardware and software installation, configuration and maintenance of large UNIX based systems and architectures, as well asMicrosoft Windows workstations and servers.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical or Engineering Science. (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Computer Science or related field, and at least of two (2) additional years of work experience which is equivalent to the duties of this job and has acquired the skills necessary to perform all job duties, or High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and at least four (4) additional years of related work experience equivalent to the job duties and has acquired the skills necessary to perform all job duties may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.).
EXPERIENCE
Three to five (3-5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
KNOWLEDGE
KnowledgeofUNIXconcepts andfacilities;scriptlanguages (csh, Perl); C or C++ programming languages and computer architectural concepts.Knowledge of computer hardware and software problem resolution procedures. Knowledge of security infrastructuremethodologies.
ABILITIES & SKILLS
Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Skill in installation, integration, and maintenance of operating systems, applications, andother software and hardware.Ability to provide intermediate level UNIX systems support in a mid-to-large scale high performance, multi-computer productionenvironment.Abilitytoprovideinstructionandtrainingforother computational professionals.Ability to monitor and evaluate system- operating characteristics, and to provide technical support.Ability to effectively communicate with computer hardware and software vendors in obtaining technical information.Ability to develop and maintain documentation regarding system management. Post offer/Employment Condition:Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on a tier-3 background investigation to access classified information. Ability to obtain Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M within six (6) months of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Administration. Experience working with large LINUX clusters with high speed interconnects, parallel filesystems, Domain Name System (DNS), Network Information Service (NIS), SendMail, Network File System (NFS), cloud based services, DoD Information Assurance, and RedHat.
